Ted Thiele

I have over 35 years of experience restoring and repairing professional woodwinds. The focus of my business over the past 25 years has been working with flutes and piccolos. My clientele include symphonic players, studio musicians, and free-lance professional artists and teachers from across the country as well as in Europe. My effort to build long-standing relationships with my clients allows me to meet their individual requirements. I trained personally with Mr. David Straubinger in 1991 and I install Straubinger pads as well as Schmidt and high quality traditional pads

Repairs and restorations are done by appointment only. Often very minor repairs can be done while you wait or go to a near by cafe.

I strive to accommodate all your needs.

As an active professional woodwind player I am able to bring  a musician’s sensitivity to my appreciation of the flute and piccolo.

Below are some of my long-standing clients:

I am pleased to recommend Ted Thiele. Our association now spans more than 30 years and, in that time Ted has provided the very highest quality repairs and complete overhauls to my flutes and piccolo.”

“Ted has been fixing my flutes and piccolos ever since I moved to San Fransico 14 years ago, and I wouldn’t send them to anyone else. He is a skilled and caring craftsman who has been a huge help to me in my professional life. I can relax when I hand an instrument to Ted, confident that he will always be able to solve the problem and return my instrument to me in excellent shape. I enthusiastically recommend him to all my students and colleagues - he is the best!”
